Farewell & Adieu

_

Ole, Marky and Alex

Arriving breathless over 2 hours late, reality hits home.

For these three interns it would be the last time I would arrive late to their infamous intern parties. Rushing up the steps, Alex's living room is filled with people. So many hugs, but yet I can't even find any interns. About 15 mins into my arrival my phone begins to ring... Ole is calling. Scrambling through the groups of people, I see a projector. Images flashing of a year gone, and there stands 3 gorgeous interns. Marky, Alex and Ole.

Oh I will miss you three so much.

Marky always so relaxed, I will miss your delicious cooking and fantastic taste for wine.

Alex my "hilarious" German friend I will miss singing my favourite German song with you.

Ole with your Volvo, I will miss your "Perfect" Denmark.

One last party, all together.
The right music, and a perfect atmosphere.
Friends from all over, new and old.
We gather together to say goodbye.

Marky, beautiful as always. Your stories of home, pull me to Prague more and more each day.

Alex, I hope you enjoyed your inflatable girlfriend that evening, my apologies for telling everyone you smell.

And...Ole, the devil of the evening. You and Juha like little drunken girls giggling in the corner. Then the both of you found it absolutly hilarious to bodyslam Simone and I, then steal sleeping bags, all the while spreading rumours in German (yes I found out what you were saying).

Be good, Be well. This is not the end. Europe calls me. And I know I will see you all in the distant future.

Snapshots of a farewell party.

I ask to not be treated like a doormat, instead they call me a feminist"

The other day I was talking with a friend, and she called me a feminist. Me, a feminist? Bra burning, anti-barbie, men hating female. I think not.

Such sterotypes that men and women have to fulfil. Even with this new paradigm shift when men are becoming more metropolitian, and women follow the footsepts of the girls in Sex in the City. Has things really changed? On the surface it's the new trend, but behind closed doors that male is a pussy, and the female's a slapper.

Does this frustrate me? Yes of course it bloody hell does! Equality - i don't care male or female lets us be a world of equality and don't tell me that men are equal to women and it's only the women who "suffer" and that's why we have feminists. We just barely hear about it, cause seriously can you imagine a guy holding a men's lib sign, how much hack is he going to get? Males, females conjures up images of what is typical. And what happens when we break out of these images - society is what happens. Labels & stigmas.

Sigh~It really does makes me so mad. Let us embrace democracy. yet ignore it in our every day life. Democracy - The principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community. Feminism it feels to me is exactly the same thing as democracy, it is just yet another label that society has given us. A label where Feminism is all aboutrah rah women's right? It's much more than that. it's about equality. And under this defintion if you ask me again: am I a feminist? Yeah, I guess I do fall under that category.
