I ask to not be treated like a doormat, instead they call me a feminist"
The other day I was talking with a friend, and she called me a feminist. Me, a feminist? Bra burning, anti-barbie, men hating female. I think not.
Such sterotypes that men and women have to fulfil. Even with this new paradigm shift when men are becoming more metropolitian, and women follow the footsepts of the girls in Sex in the City. Has things really changed? On the surface it's the new trend, but behind closed doors that male is a pussy, and the female's a slapper.
Does this frustrate me? Yes of course it bloody hell does! Equality - i don't care male or female lets us be a world of equality and don't tell me that men are equal to women and it's only the women who "suffer" and that's why we have feminists. We just barely hear about it, cause seriously can you imagine a guy holding a men's lib sign, how much hack is he going to get? Males, females conjures up images of what is typical. And what happens when we break out of these images - society is what happens. Labels & stigmas.
Sigh~It really does makes me so mad. Let us embrace democracy. yet ignore it in our every day life. Democracy - The principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community. Feminism it feels to me is exactly the same thing as democracy, it is just yet another label that society has given us. A label where Feminism is all aboutrah rah women's right? It's much more than that. it's about equality. And under this defintion if you ask me again: am I a feminist? Yeah, I guess I do fall under that category.
